Faire preuve : Comment nos sociétés distinguent le vrai du faux

CIRST's latest collective book, "Faire preuve. Comment nos sociétés distinguent le vrai du faux", is now available in hard copy and in free digital access on the Presses de l'Université de Montréal website.

Co-edited by Julien Prud'homme and Molly Kao, this book provides essential insights into how all evidence involves choices, methods and interpretations. The authors, who come from a variety of disciplines, examine from different angles what makes evidence convincing or contestable, exploring crucial issues such as scientific reproducibility, the exploitation of digital data and the role of expertise in the public arena. They show that what constitutes evidence is never fixed, but is formed, contested and evolves under the influence of scientific, social and philosophical debates.

Chapter 4 features a text by Jade Maria Moisan and Vincent Larivière on “Reproducibility in science”. Kevin Kaiser is also first author of chapter 6: “Corpus analysis: demonstrating through text”.
