Isabel Basson

Postdoctoral researcher

Isabel Basson is a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Library and Information Science (École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l'information) of the University of Montreal. Previously she was a postdoctoral fellow at the joint South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and National Research Foundation (NRF) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Scientometrics and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (SciSTIP) hosted by the Centre on Research Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University. Before her time at CREST, she worked on the South African National Survey on Research and Experimental Development (R&D) at the Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII) located at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in South Africa. She holds a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies, a MPhil in Social Science Methods, and a Bachelor’s in Humanities obtained from Stellenbosch University. Her current research interests are in scientometrics with a focus on open access journal publications.
